North Colonie
Board of Education
A local Board of Education is an agency of New York State that
is governed by State law and the regulations of the Commissioner
of Education. The North Colonie Board is composed of nine
members who serve five year terms. The North Colonie Central
School District’s Board of Education establishes policy, has the
fiscal responsibility to provide a budget and directly hires the
superintendent of schools. As your elected representatives, the
Board exercises the community’s rights of citizen control over
public education.
Monthly formal voting meetings are held on the third or fourth
Monday of each month at 7:30 p.m. The location alternates among
each of our eight schools. Committee meetings are held as needed
throughout the month, usually on a Monday or Thursday evening at
7:30 p.m. These meetings are held in either the Shaker High
School conference room, located on the second floor next to the
Principal’s Office, or the Shaker High School Library.
