June 2013
It is very difficult to believe that June is
already here and we are making plans for the end of the school
year activities. It certainly will be a busy month with Learning
Enrichment Day, June Jamboree, graduation, end-of-year testing,
plays, and various field trips. I would like to extend my
sincere thanks to all of the volunteers who will be helping us
with these various events and to those who have given generously
of their time and talents throughout the year to help make our
school so successful.
I would also like to thank Mrs. Hogan, our
PTA President. Her leadership has been so helpful culminating in
another successful school year. Thank you to all of the PTA
officers and PTA volunteers for supporting the various functions
here at school. Thank you to Mr. Morrell for coordinating the
Jump Rope for Heart this year. Thank you to Mrs. McLean for
keeping us updated, rain or shine, with the sign outside.
Special thanks to the Mrs. VanSleet, staff, volunteers, our
fifth grader servers, Stewart’s, Ben & Jerry’s, Price Chopper
and Hannaford who helped make our Fifth Annual Ice Cream Social
such a success. Thank you, Mrs. Meunier, for coordinating two
successful Book Fairs. Many thanks to Ms. Wallace, Mrs. Smith
and to the PTA for funding our authors, Dan Mahoney and Ted
Sheu. The students were truly engaged by them. Who knows? We
could be among future authors and illustrators. I sincerely hope
that I am not missing anyone, as we are extremely blessed to
have so many people who give generously of their time, talents
and resources.
Our entire staff deserves a tremendous hug
and round of applause. With all the changes and additional
testing, they really went above and beyond to keep a positive
learning environment for students. To all of the families and
staff members who have gone the extra mile, THANK YOU! You truly
make a difference in the lives of the children who are so
fortunate to be part of the Boght Hills learning community where
students also learn about helping others in addition to their
academic and physical achievements. Here are just a few of the
monthly K-Kids activities that have made a difference to others
in the community and around the world: Thanksgiving Food
Baskets, Holiday Gift Drive, Mix-It-Up Day, and Valentine Hearts
for the Ronald McDonald House.
What would summer be without a good book!
The Summer Reading Program is for students entering grades K- 6.
Families should encourage their children to read and keep track
of the books read over the summer. Should you have any questions
regarding this or any of the other end-of-year activities,
please feel free to call. Please review the June end-of-year
schedule on the second page with regard to the last week of
school.
In closing, I’d like to thank you all for
your continued support this year. It has been a pleasure working
with you and your children. I look forward to another successful
year at Boght Hills. Best wishes for a restful, safe and happy
summer.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Kimberly Greiner
