North Colonie inducts four into Athletics Hall of Fame

October 5, 2009 - On Saturday, October 3rd, the Shaker All Sport Booster Club held their Hall Of Fame Induction Luncheon at the Century House in Latham.

This year’s inductees included 2003 graduate, Brandon Birchack. Birchack was a six-year varsity letterman and a six-time Section II Diving qualifier. In addition, he was a five-time states gymnastic competitor, and was all-state on the parallel bars. He holds 16 Shaker High school Diving records and is a two-time All American.

Also inducted was Justin Corelli, a 2002 graduate. Corelli was an eight-time varsity letter winner and was the Cross-Country Runner of the Year in his freshman year. He also holds the Shaker high record in the 3000 meter run and the New York State 3000 meter run.

Amanda O’Hearn was also inducted on Saturday. She graduated in 2003 as a three-time Section II Singles Champion. O’Hearn made the Suburban Council Championship Team five times and was a two-time state finalist.

Zach Tacelli, who graduated in 2002, played four years of varsity football, three years of varsity baseball and two years of indoor track. Tacelli’s football accomplishments include being named Offensive Player of the Year in 1999 and Defensive Player of the Year in 2000. He was also named Special Teams Player of the Year in 2001. As an indoor track team member, he broke a record in the 200 meter and shot put. As a member of the varsity baseball team, Tacelli was the team batting champion from 2000-2002, holds the third-highest batting average in school history and is fourth all-time in stolen bases.
