October 26, 2009 - On Saturday, October
24, 2009, 17 students from Russia and two chaperones arrived
from Moscow School 1158. They will be staying with students
from Shaker High School and for two weeks will be immersed
in American culture. The Russian students will be
experiencing, first-hand, what family life is in America.
Our guests will be also attending classes at the high
school, junior high school, and elementary schools and going
on excursions to different local attractions. In addition,
they will be taking trips to Boston and New York City.
Shaker High School students returned from Russia just two
weeks ago. Their trip marked the beginning of a new and
exciting exchange with the Moscow sister school.
"The trip was a success and we are excited
about hosting," one of the Russian exchange coordinators said.
"It is a wonderful opportunity for students and host families to
welcome a guest into their homes and learn about the Russian
culture, while sharing the best of American culture. It forms
global relations and makes the world a little smaller and more
intimate."
