November
25, 2009 - Cat opened the 2009 Shaker Varsity Girls Tennis
season with a difficult 3 set loss to Jessica Macaluso, 6-4,
1-5, 6-3. That loss provided the impetus for a great run of
victories. Cat played nearly flawless tennis generating a
7-0 league record from that point on. Advancing into
post-season play, she dominated the opposition. In Team
Sectionals, she led the Shaker Team to a 3rd Place finish
with wins over both, Emma Willard’s and Guilderland’s No. 1
players. At the Individual Section II Singles Championships,
Cat won 6 consecutive matches to claim the Section II Crown
and claim a position in the NYSPHSAA State Championships.
Cat completed the 2009 season by finishing in the top 16 at
the State Championships.
In addition to tennis play, Cat has taught Sunday School for
the past two years. On the 4th of July, you can find her
working the Concession Stand at the Annual Town of Colonie
reading of the Declaration of Independence.
We are very proud of Cat’s accomplishments both on and off
the tennis courts. Congratulations to Cat and her parents –
Caron and Peter Crummey.
