February
4, 2010 - Jennifer Moran, a Speech Language Pathologist at Blue
Creek Elementary School, knows a thing or two about innovation.
“The Lunch Bunch”, a group created by Moran, invites students
that need extra help with communication skills to join students
with pretty good skills, to simply have a conversation. It was
this novel and ultimately successful idea that, in part, led to
Mrs. Moran being named a WNYT-13 ‘Top Teacher’.
“When I got the call about Channel 13's Top Teacher, I was a
little overwhelmed, but I felt grateful and honored to be
recognized for something like this,” Moran said.
Moran says she feels the greatest pride in hearing stories from
parents or teachers about her students who take their newly
learned communication skills and used them outside of speech
therapy.
“It is absolutely wonderful to see the progress that the
children make through the years,” she said. “To know that I am
making a difference in the lives of students and their families
really means a lot to me.”
