First-year school board member Dr. Siren Chudgar has announced that he will be stepping down from his seat on the North Colonie Board of Education effective November 3, 2011.

Dr. Chudgar is accepting a job opportunity that will take him out of state and require him to relocate on a permanent basis.

“I have had the wonderful opportunity to serve on the North Colonie Board of Education," Chudgar said. "North Colonie is a phenomenal school district led by excellent administrators throughout K-12. I wish the district well in all of its future endeavors."

Dr. Chudgar was elected to the Board of Education this past May.

“We will miss the energy and enthusiasm he brought to his work on the Board, but are excited for him as he begins his new position,” Board President Mary Nardolillo said. “We are also very grateful for the good work he's done for this district over the years through his service on the Forts Ferry PTA, North Colonie PTA Council, as an active member of the Budget Committee, culminating with his recent work on the Board of Education. All of us wish Siren continued success and all the best to the Chudgar family.”

Board decision to fill vacated seat

The school board has agreed to fill the vacancy Chudgar’s resignation will create by conducting a special election on January 31, 2012.

Residents interested in completing the balance of Chudgar’s term, expiring June 30, 2016, may pick up a nominating petition from the board clerk’s office at 91 Fiddlers Lane or download the form here [PDF]. The petition must be filed with the district clerk no later than December 30, 2011 at 4:00 p.m. All candidates must also fill out a Board Candidate Profile [PDF] which will be distributed to voters prior to the election. The North Colonie Central School District’s Board of Education is composed of nine board members who serve five-year terms.
