Over the weekend of October 15-16, Blue Creek
teachers Tricia Carlson, Brook Greco and Linda LeBlanc
participated in the New York City AVON walk for Breast Cancer.
They had been training and fundraising as a
team called "Heeling For Hope" since February and raised a total
of $6,483 in the fight against breast cancer. On their two-day
walk, they participated with approximately 5,000 other walkers who
raised a total of 8.4 million dollars!
"Inspiration to do this came from Blue Creek
colleagues who have been fighting the battle against breast cancer
and we wanted to do something extra to show our support," Carlson
said.
Carlson and Greco walked a total of 31 miles
over two days and LeBlanc walked a total of 40 miles! It was an
amazing experience for the three friends who were inspired by the
many stories that were shared along the walk and the survivors
that they met along the way!
