Blue Creek families helped to donate
twenty large boxes of halloween candy for troops serving
overseas. |
During the week of November 1st, Blue
Creek students and families donated bag and bags of their
leftover Halloween candy for a good cause.
In the school's second annual "Share With A
Soldier" community service project, the third grade classes
organized and led the school in this amazing project in which
students throughout the school brought in their candy which third
graders then put into small plastic baggies and large boxes.
Twenty large boxes of candy and dozens of
handmade cards were packaged and sent to Shaker High School, as part
of Operation: North Colonie Cares. From there, they were sent to an
organization called "Blue Star Mothers," which will ship the candy
to U.S. troops serving our country.
"By giving and sharing what they had, our
elementary students and families showed that they were ready and
willing to do their part to make a difference," Blue Creek third
grade teacher Tricia Carlson said. "We are very proud and thankful
to be a part of such a caring community!"
