The burial service for Ned Fleischer will be a private ceremony in downstate New York and involve only family members.

Donations may be made to the North Colonie Friends of Music in honor of Mr. Fleischer. There are plans to set up a scholarship in Ned Fleischer’s name, and discussion about repairing the grand piano in the chorus room. Those interested may send donations to: NCFOM, c/o Shaker High School, 445 Watervliet-Shaker Rd., Latham NY 12110.

We are aware of a great deal of discussion among alumni regarding visiting the Shaker High School chorus room. While we empathize with the grief of Mr. Fleischer’s former students, we also must continue the work that Ned did so well every day – shape the musical, intellectual and emotional development of our students.

The current SHS students have never known Mr. Fleischer. It would be inappropriate for these students to share in the grief of your loss. I am asking to have no visitors, flowers or messages in the chorus room.

Thank you for honoring the difference that Ned Fleischer made in thousands of lives. Thank you for respecting the classroom and our current students. We share in your loss. He will be greatly missed.
