The Section 2 championship appearance – and 14-0 victory – was the first in Shaker history. As an athlete, Chris demonstrated exceptional leadership, and he and his teammates brought the North Colonie community together; this was the start of a ten year run in which the football program had an 83-14 record and 6 Sectional championship appearances. Today, Chris continues to support the football program as a varsity assistant coach.

His former players credit him for starting a tradition and legacy of excellence in the boys’ volleyball program (1970-1985) that lasted well beyond his retirement. Many of his players went on to successful athletic careers after high school – including a member of the USA National Team – and they still keep in touch, always coming back to the founder of one of the top programs in Shaker and Section 2 history.
