Dear North Colonie Community,
The North Colonie Central School District confirmed today, Wednesday, Oct. 14, that a member of the high school community has tested positive for COVID-19. The individual was last in the high school building on Thursday, Oct. 8 and had minimal contact with students. The individual who tested positive has been placed in isolation and will not return to the school environment until they are cleared by the health department.
We have been in contact with the Albany County Health Department and identified the individual’s close contacts at the school. The health department has reached out to members of the school community who were in close contact with the individual. The local health department will advise on the need to quarantine, if any, and to facilitate testing of those potentially exposed.
Please note that The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and other privacy laws restrict us from disclosing or confirming any personally identifiable information regarding positive cases or mandatory quarantine.
All district spaces where this individual was located have been deep cleaned, as per CDC guidance.
We cannot emphasize enough the importance of continuing to stay vigilant outside of school, including limiting group gatherings, practicing good hygiene, wearing masks and following social distance guidelines. As always, if you begin to feel sick, you are asked to stay home.
