Dear North Colonie families,
I am optimistic in light of the recently enacted state budget. As the district has made strides to recover from the impacts of the pandemic, knowing we have the funding to rebuild and respond to the needs of our students and their families as we move into the next school year is both gratifying and hopeful. The enhanced funding will allow us to move closer to realizing our mission of providing all students with equal opportunities and necessary support to engage in relevant, challenging work to contribute to their academic and social growth and development. You can view our Board meeting which summarizes the 2021-2022 budget process through this link.
April 17 Clinic for 16+ to Receive Vaccine
North Colonie and South Colonie have partnered with Colonie EMS and Albany County to sponsor a vaccination clinic for Colonie residents who are 16 years and older. The first clinic will be this Saturday, from 9AM to 1PM at the Colonie Central High School, MUG Gymnasium.
Students must sign up for an appointment, and any family member who accompanies a student may also use this link to make a vaccination appointment for themselves.
Please note that this Pfizer vaccine is a two-part vaccine. Students vaccinated on April 17 will get their second dose at the same time and location on May 9. If you are not able to return on that date, please do not register at this time. There will be more opportunities in the near future, including some at Shaker High School.
3-8 ELA State Assessments Start Next Week
On Monday, April 19 North Colonie will start administering the ELA portion of the 3-8 New York State Assessments. This will provide the district with valuable information to help guide instruction and provide support for students in need. The math assessment will be in May and the science assessment for grades 4 and 8 will take place in June. The full ELA exam schedule with a breakdown by school is listed on our website.
