12+Vaccines, Motivating Movement, K-12 Student Artwork at Town Library & Weekly Boost

Dear North Colonie families,

Good news, the nation is moving forward in the right direction as the CDC lifts its mask mandate for those fully vaccinated. However, as New Yorkers, we need to wait for the state to give us that same directive before we can mask off. Also on Thursday, the state department of health approved children as young as 12 years old to be vaccinated with the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine. Expect more vaccination clinics being set up throughout the county.

Motivating Learning through Movement

The Special Education and Pupil Services Department created videos for parents to help support their children with movement using everyday items from home. Movement can be an effective method to improve motivation and strengthen learning and memory skills.

Suicide Prevention

This week’s PAC meeting delved into the serious public health crisis of suicide and how everyone can help prevent it from happening. If you weren’t able to watch it live, here’s a recording of the presentation.

Town Library to Display Artwork From North Colonie Students

It’s Art for Youth Month at North Colonie and we want to lift up our exceptional student artists, teachers, and school art programs. Artwork created by our K-12 students will be on display on the walls of the Colonie Town Library from Tuesday, May 18 to June 15. There are a total of 151 North Colonie students represented in this exhibit. Here’s a link to view the creations in a virtual display. To view the artwork in person, be sure to check the library hours before you go.

Weekly Boost

As always, thank you for doing your part to keep our community safe. Please continue to wear a mask, avoid social gatherings with those outside of your household, and social distance.

Sincerely,

D. Joseph Corr
Superintendent of Schools
