Shaker Robotics Headed to the World Championships!

Shaker Robotics competed at the NY Tech Valley Regional (NYTVR) and is now headed to the FRC World Championships, a culminating, international event for youth robotics competition. After qualifying as a finalist, the team received a wildcard berth, clearing the way for them to compete at the FRC World Championships in Houston, Texas.

The Shaker team competed against 47 other teams and was also awarded the Excellence in Engineering Award. This award celebrates a team that demonstrates a professional approach to the design process.

“As you can imagine there is a lot of excitement from both the students and the mentors regarding the invitation to the Championships, where they will compete against teams from all over the world,” said Chris McDermith, SHS Technology Teacher. “The reality of transporting students, mentors, a robot, and support equipment 1,800 miles to Houston has hit.”

“The success of this Robotics team is rooted in the hard work, dedication, and collaborative problem solving of our students who are destined to become the next generation of leaders in technology and innovation,” said Superintendent Skeals.  “We cannot wait to hear more about their performance at the World Championship!”
