8th to 9th Grade Transition | Be an Ally | Course Information | Helping Your Child & Tips for Success | Meet the Middle School Counselors | Resources
At Shaker Middle School, each student is assigned to one of four halls:
- Algonquin
- Haystack
- Skylight
- Wright
Within each hall, students work with a counselor assigned to that hall. Our counselors work with the middle school Math, Science, Social Studies and English teachers (within their respective halls) to provide continuity while the students are attending the middle school. Although the individual is the focal point of the middle school program, group counseling is also an integral part of the total program. Behavioral, developmental, academic and related issues are addressed in formal conferences. Wellness and self-esteem are targeted as well as pre-career and occupational issues.
8th to 9th Grade Transition
We know that the transition from middle to high school can be exciting and overwhelming for parents and students. Our 8th to 9th Grade Transition page webpage is designed to provide you with invaluable resources, tips and advice to help you smoothly navigate this important educational milestone as you transition from Shaker Middle School to Shaker High School.
Be An Ally To Others and Stand Up!
Shaker Middle School believes children have the right to be educated in a safe, happy and supportive environment. Our goal is to make our middle school a place where every student feels included by their peers and accepted for who they are.
