Superintendent’s Message on the 2024 Capital Project
Dear North Colonie Parents and Residents,
North Colonie Central School District is continually striving to provide our students with relevant and challenging work which contributes to their academic and social growth and development. As our students thrive and achieve at extraordinary levels, we must keep up by providing the resources needed for a high-quality, relevant and equitable education for all. As the world changes and evolves, North Colonie must do the same to prepare our students for success beyond the walls of our schools.
It is for this reason that I present to you the Capital Project of 2024. This project will provide much-needed and overdue improvements to our district. Read the full message…
2024 Capital Project Introductory Video
On Tuesday, May 21, in addition to voting on the annual school budget and two open Board of Education seats, voters will vote on the 2024 Capital Project. Here’s an introduction to the project. This video will touch on the proposed improvements included in the project as well as the cost and tax impact.
Transfer to Capital
On the May 21 ballot, in addition to a proposition for the Capital Project, there is a second proposition to authorize spending from a Capital Reserve Fund that was previously approved by voters. Assistant Superintendent for Business Cybil Howard explains the details.
2024 Capital Project: Athletics Improvements
As part of the 2024 proposed Capital Project, there would be improvements involving our athletic programs. They would include the installation of a new synthetic turf field on Lower Maloy and new LED lights on Walker Field.
2024 Capital Project: Art, Music & Auditorium Renovations
As part of the 2024 proposed Capital Project, there would be renovations to existing art and music spaces including the auditorium and art gallery. Currently, the auditorium is the second smallest in the Suburban Council. The proposed work would expand the stage and add a balcony which would create approximately 250 additional seats.
2024 Capital Project: Classroom Renovations & J-Wing Addition
As part of the 2024 proposed Capital Project, an addition to J-wing would add seven general classrooms and four science labs. There would also be a renovation of approximately 50 other existing classrooms.
