The Superintendent of Schools will maintain a list of available interpreters, located in the Pupil Services Office.
The Superintendent shall notify parents of the availability of interpreter services far enough in advance so that parents have time to send in appropriate forms requesting an interpreter. Notification about the availability of interpreters will be published yearly in the elementary lunch menu, handbook for new parents and the Advocate. The notification will include information about the time limitation for requesting the services and the requirement to make other reasonable accommodations to the parents should an interpreter not be available.
The three day requirement for an interpreter request shall be waived for a suspension hearing should the hearing be scheduled within a shorter time period.
Parents who are hearing-impaired are requested to submit the attached form to request accommodation of their disability. A written response will follow, If the request is received in a timely fashion, the district will arrange for an interpreter or if an interpreter is unavailable, a notetaker.
