Blue Creek Nurse Kimberly Roberson Honored for Helping Save a Man’s Life

We have a hero working here in the North Colonie Central School District! At the June 17 Board of Education meeting, Kimberly Roberson, a nurse at Blue Creek Elementary School, was honored for her recent actions to help save a man’s life during a medical emergency.

On the morning of May 1, 2024, Mrs. Roberson was visiting her parents when a neighbor collapsed in full cardiac arrest. Her father, Michael Lashmet, is a former fire chief and EMS volunteer, and received the emergency notification. Both of them rushed to a neighbor’s house, where a man was unresponsive. Without hesitation, Mrs. Roberson began administering CPR and rescue breathing. Within minutes, first responders arrived with an automatic external defibrillator (AED) and successfully restored the patient’s pulse. The man was then transported to a nearby hospital, where he made a quick recovery.

“It is our opinion that a combination of her being at the right place and time made the difference between life and death that morning,” stated Defreestville Fire Chief Shane Clute. The department commended Mrs. Roberson, a former member of the Defreestville Fire Department, for her quick response and professional medical expertise, which were instrumental in saving the man’s life. Blue Creek Elementary and the North Colonie community are proud to celebrate her exceptional actions.

Mrs. Roberson’s actions have made a significant positive impact, reflecting her commitment to the well-being of those around her. Congratulations to Kimberly Roberson R.N. on her tremendous accomplishments and life-saving reaction. We honor this heroic deed with great pride to our amazing staff member and caregiver of Blue Creek Elementary.
