Dear Grades 3-12 Parents and Guardians,
In order to limit the sharing of devices among students and provide greater flexibility during the COVID-19 pandemic, we will be expanding our Chromebook 1:1 program to include all students in grades K-12.
There is no cost to families for the program unless the device is damaged, lost, or stolen. However, the District does provide an optional Chromebook Care Protection Plan that will cover your student’s first incident of accidental damage, loss, or theft during the school year.
-
- The cost of the plan is $20 for 2020-21 school year for Grades 3-12.
- To purchase the plan, please bring cash or a check for $20 made out to “North Colonie Central School District”
- Detailed information regarding the protection plan can be found here.
To learn more about using Chromebooks in the district, visit the Chromebook Parent FAQ.

If your student borrowed a loaner Chromebook during the COVID closure this spring, we need you to return it so that we have enough Chromebooks for all grade levels.
- Please make sure to bring the loaner Chromebook and the charger/power supply with you when you pick up your brand new Chromebook. (The old charger will not work with your new Chromebook)
- Please charge the battery prior to returning it.
- Please let us know if there are any known issues/problems with the device. It will be cleaned, disinfected, and repurposed.
Before you pick up your Chromebook, please make sure your student has read and understands the information provided in the Chromebook Handbook for Students and the Information Technology Acceptable Use Policy.
If you have any questions, please contact the IT Department 518-785-5511, ext. 3333 or email ITTechTeam@ncolonie.org.
