A total of 37 Shaker middle and high school students have been named to All-State and regional music festivals.
These students were recognized by the Board of Education during its Nov. 21 meeting.
- Eight SMS students and one SHS student have been selected for the New York State Band Directors Association Middle School and High School, All-State Honor Bands, which will perform in Liverpool, NY in March 2023: Regan Doherty, Adam Judson, Sophie Freed, Gaven Li, Sophia Hu, Ethan Filippelli, Greyson Famoso, Luqman Ahmed,and Christina Zhang.
- Twenty-nine SHS students performed Nov. 18-19 with the NYSSMA Area All-State Music Festival. Students were chosen from a 50-mile radius to perform in the Area All-State Band, Chorus and Orchestra. Competition for these ensembles can be very stiff. This is an impressive number of SHS students to be selected for this prestigious festival! They are: Jerry Fan, Jaehyun Lee, Vandy Benson, Blake Nazarian, Mia Sorrentino, Tahlia Stefanik, Bowen Yu, Mark Cannistraci, Jennifer Desantis, Levi Dwyer, Selma Fabregas, Olivia Gilbert, Jack Kalteux, Maya Kantimahanthu, Catherine Yang, Riley Appel, Grace Cometti, Grace Commisso, Lauren Curley, Jacob Ford, Ani Gregori Asadourian, Benson Jovel-Truong, Timothy Kelsey, Prapti Mishra, Benjamin Montimurro, Sarah Owusu, Kyla Ryan, Alyssa Turcotte, Connor Wheatley.
