The North Colonie CSD is once again participating in the annual Hatsgiving event, which provides soft, warm hats for children who have lost their hair while battling cancer.
Hatsgiving was created by 2021 North Colonie graduate Jeremy Wernick. In 2012, Jeremy, then a fourth grader, shaved his head for the second time to raise money for childhood cancer research. It got him thinking about kids who lose their hair during cancer treatments. Thus, he launched Hatsgiving and the first official collection was held in 2013.
A collection box is at the front desk at North Colonie Central School District’s Main Office (Goodwich Building) at 99 Fiddler’s Lane in Latham. Drop off anytime between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. through Friday, Nov. 19.
Students can also bring hats to the main office at their school – now through Friday, Nov. 19.
