The Blue Bison cleaned up at the Central New York History Bee and Bowl in Syracuse, NY on Saturday, October 19, 2024. The varsity team of Faiz Shaikh, Haadi Shoaib, Everest Nelson-Holder, and Hannah Berkun won the event and the other varsity team of Shrijan Sedhain, Yunhan Chen, Everitt Li, Peter Gong, and Charles Adelstein came in second place. Both teams qualified to compete at the National History Bowl tournament in Arlington, Virginia in April, as well as the International History Olympiad in Paris, France. The JV team of Devesh Kusampudi, Mustaeen Morshed, Khrishnav Parasuraman, and Aditya Milukuri placed third in their division and also qualified for Nationals.
Our students not only succeeded as teams, but individually as well. Congratulations to Faiz Shaikh who competed and placed second overall in the Varsity Division History Bee competition in Syracuse. Everest Nelson-Holder and Haadi Shoaib also competed in the History Bee and were Finalists at the event. All three qualify for the National History Bee in Arlington, Virginia, as well as the International History Olympiad in Paris, France. Congratulations to Zaid Shaikh who was a Finalist in the JV History Bee competition and qualified for Nationals in Arlington.
In addition, congratulations go out to Haadi Shoaib and Yunhan Chen who both took the Varsity level National Geography Bee National Qualifying Exam and both earned the right to compete in both the National and International Geography Championships. Haadi placed first on the exam. Mustaeen Morshed took the JV National Geography Bee National Qualifying Exam and also qualified for Nationals.
Finally, congratulations to Peter Sandomire who placed first on the National Science Bee National Qualifying Exam and qualified for Nationals in Arlington, Virginia.
