The North Colonie Transportation Department mechanics have achieved a 100% New York State Department of Transportation inspection rate. For the 2020-21 school year, 175 inspections were completed and each one was perfect.
“The transportation department is dedicated to providing safe transportation to all students riding our buses,” said Denise Towne, Director of Transportation. “Our maintenance team, led by Stan Brackett, has demonstrated their dedication to keeping safe buses on the road. This 100% passing rate came when our mechanics were working under the added pressure that comes with working in a COVID environment. Even with these obstacles, our team kept the level of excellence they have shown year after year.”
During inspections, everything is checked over, including brakes, steering, body condition, tires, glass, passenger cabin, exhaust and many other systems. North Colonie has a fleet of 81 buses, which are inspected by the district’s team each month.
Congratulations to the transportation department!
