SJHS students recently competed in the MATHCOUNTS chapter competition. A total of 15 students competed this year and nine out of the top 20, including the top score, are Shaker students!
The MATHCOUNTS Foundation is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that reaches students in grades 6-8 in all US states and territories with 3 extracurricular math programs. More than a quarter million students participate in the programs or use their resources each year. The MATHCOUNTS competition series cultivates talent in the nation’s brightest young minds. Students from all 50 states compete in a series of contests.
We would like to recognize the following students who ranked in the top 20 participants: Sophia Hu (20th), Hans Gupta (19th), Peter Gong (17th), Everitt Li (15th), Sanjana Kolli (14th), Josiah Mo (11th), Kevin Lu (10th), Isabella Hu (4th) and Ian Gu (1st)!
The next level of competition is the Chapter Invitational. After the Chapter Invitational, students will advance to the State-level Competition in March and then move on to the National Competition in May. To qualify for the Chapter Invitational competition, a student had to score in the top 20% of the chapter round for their chapter.
The following students qualified for the Chapter Invitational competition: Everitt Li, Ian Gu, Isabella Hu, Josiah Mo, Kevin Lu, Peter Gong and Sanjana Kolli.
Congratulations and good luck!
