Dear North Colonie Families:
This evening it was brought to my attention that there are rumors circulating on social media about an individual threatening violent attacks at Shaker High School.
We have been in contact with the Colonie Police Department, and they have thoroughly investigated this matter. I’d like to thank the school community for sharing information with the district and the police department so that an appropriate investigation could be conducted. It has been determined that there is no credible threat. However, out of an abundance of caution, the Colonie PD will have an increased presence in our school community tomorrow, Friday, Oct. 21.
I understand that this message is disconcerting. Please know that we consider the safety and security of our school community to be paramount and that we take matters such as this very seriously.
