About Loudonville Elementary

Welcome to Loudonville – Home of the Lions!

Loudonville Elementary lives in the spirit of the Lion. Our students and staff are strong, brave, and proud to be who they are. Our theme this year is, “Loudonville Grows.”

The official academic day at Loudonville is from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The arrival bell rings at 9:00. Students who are being dropped off may arrive from 9:00 – 9:10 a.m. Students will enter the building through the CYC/Cafeteria door (door # 7) located in the back of the school. There will be staff outside to assist in our drop-off loop, similar to our dismissal loop. Families should NOT park and walk students to the door. This is a change from last year.  Bus riders will enter the building through the front entrance beginning at 9 a.m. The school office is open 8:15-4:15 daily.

If students arrive after 9:10, they are considered late. A parent or guardian will need to walk the student into school and report to the main office. Please be sure to send a note to school if you will be picking your child up early or if there is a change in their normal dismissal routine. You will be asked to present identification when picking up your child if we do not know you. The last academic block ends at 3:30 this year. Parent pick-up and CYC dismissal will begin at 3:40. If you are picking up your child at dismissal, we have a drive-through pick-up. Please do NOT park in the back circle or parking lot during dismissal.

Bus dismissal will begin at 3:45.  Please note, not all of our buses leave at the same time.

Nursing Notes

A child who is sick will not be able to perform well in school and is likely to spread the illness to other children and staff. We suggest making a plan for childcare ahead of time so you will not be caught without a comforting place for your child to stay if he/she is ill.

Our school policy states that you should NOT send your child to school if he/she has:

  • An abnormal temperature in the past 24 hours; 100 degrees or above.
  • Has been vomiting/diarrhea in the past 24 hours.
  • A sore throat waiting for a strep culture.
  • Been diagnosed with an infection (i.e. Pneumonia, bronchitis, strep throat, scarlet fever.) The child must be taking an antibiotic for at least 24 hours prior to returning to school.
  • A bad cold with a very runny nose or bad cough.
  • Head lice, until your child has been treated according to the doctor’s instruction.

If your child becomes ill at school and the school nurse feels that the child is too sick to benefit from school or is contagious to other children, you will be called to come and take him/her home. It is essential that we have a phone number where you can be contacted during the day and an emergency number in the event you cannot be reached.

Please remember to report to the school nurse when your child has been diagnosed with a communicable illness, for example: strep throat, head lice, pneumonia etc.
